Literary Word List

1. Ambiguity Noun, plural -ties.
doubtfulness or uncertainty of meaning or intention: to speak with ambiguity; an ambiguity of manner.
2. Analogue noun 1.something having analogy to something else.
3. Anecdote noun a short account of a particular incident or event of an interesting or amusing nature, often biographical
4. Aphorism a terse saying embodying a general truth, or astute observation, as “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely
5. Assonance Also called vowel rhyme. Prosody. rhyme in which the same vowel sounds are used with different consonants in the stressed syllables of the rhyming words, as in penitent and reticence.
6. Autobiography a history of a person's life written or told by that person.
7. Ballad any light, simple song, esp. one of sentimental or romantic character, having two or more stanzas all sung to the same melody.
8. Biography a written account of another person's life

My evaluation of the course

The first day of class with Ms. Ross was kind of ok. But I took as it was a challenge. I knew that she was testing for the student who can hang and who could not make it to the end of the five week course. That is what I thought of my first week of college with Ms. Ross. After two weeks past by things seemed to get a little calmer, with the exception of some student did not make it through the first few weeks. But I knew she was just preparing me for the fall semester of college. I learned many things while in class, I know that I need to read more, and practice writing more. The teaching I received from Ms. Ross will help me in the long run in the future also as I move to composition two. Throughout my experience in the classroom was wonderful.

List of quality I would not change about myself

Thank you letter to all tried to prevent me from becoming who I am now

Dear, People who tried to prevent me from my success


I just want to thank all of you people that did not want to see me succeed. With all your encouragement made me a lot stronger. All you all were doing is pushing me to make me better. The more you pushed made me an achiever throughout my school years. I always maintain a high grade point average. When you tried to make fall with all your criticism, it did not bother me it made me continue to stand on my feet. Whatever you all tried to do never worked for you. I just keep praying and keeping a focused mind. Doing those things kept me moving to reach my journey. When graduation came up I march up to that podium a received my diploma with honors; as of today I still remain standing tall.

Student purpose

My purpose in life is to be better than my parents. The reason why I say this is because; they did not do something and had opportunities that they did not take. That is one of the most reasons I set my standards so high. Everyday when I am at home my money constantly remind me that I am smarter than she is. She did not make top ten percent or graduated with honors as I did. But like she always says she got her diploma and received her bachelor degree. She always that I am an educated black young man. Now it is time to take on my next challenge in life to have a successful future. That next big step is college; the reason is I will be the first child that my parents have that go to college. I believe that going to college will teach me new thing and to learn how to become a man of my own. So one day I can be an intelligent individual who can provide for a family of my own in life. This is the reason why I set my standards so high for myself.
